Cracking series discussing the Birmingham accent ,I must say that there is a very slight difference between north and south Birmingham ie Jack Grealish and Johnny Osbourne .I think the North Birmingham accent is the authentic one .Jus'my opinion aright ?

I love these videos! So, thanks. I know a French word we SHOULD steal. I'm a retired cook who worked mosty in breakfast, banquets and buffets. And when you have to cook eggs for a hundred people or more you might consider making them BAVEUSE. Which is basically wet scrambled eggs not completely finished. If you and your staff are making hotel pans full of eggs at a breakfast buffet, by the plate where it sits under a heat lamp, or you've got a hundred wrappers with tortillas and cheese that need to be made into breakfast tacos by putting a scrambled eggwith potatoes and a meat then wrapped and sold. Vabeuse eggs are how most cooks make lots of eggs. And ,like me, mix in cheeses for cheesy scrammies, that's the time you add those cheeses is whilst they're wet. So, just in case you need another video idea, here you go. Words we should steal.

“You should speak like you” yeah no. I was taught all the flowery stuff in college, but in reality talking professionally is a required for most careers requiring a bachelors degree or higher. That does not just mean the appropriate vocabulary and avoiding vulgar language. Employers will use your voice to judge your background and social status. One must code switch to a proper business form of English in order to secure a career.

I assume a lot of individuals upon this earth enjoy drinking tea. But I guess their the biggest consumers of tea.

I am a Scouser , but been in Scotland for 20years and still when i speak to people that I don't know it is not uncommon for them to say 'are you from Liverpool' see I still have a Scouse accent after 20 years which proves , once a Scouser always a Scouser .

I had learned English as a second language in a non-English-speaking country as a child. Now I know the accent I was taught is called Conservative RP. I still find it easier to speak than the Midwestern American accent I ended up developing later. Going to practice it more in my daily life.

Geordie is the cutest accent imo, too bad I can't understand half of what they're saying.

I feel like there were some more inconsistencies from the clips shown but I don't have the linguistic knowledge to pinpoint what she is doing wrong. Maybe some of the vowel heavier longer words slip into a south African accent. It could also be that conservative RP is so rarely heard even where I live in the home counties that it's actually how she should be saying it!

I still don't know what accent the lead character in This Is England is speaking.

British and American English is as different as Danish and Swedish. It's much easier to understand American English.

In Germany`s schools we lern a so called Oxford-English. As far as I know Emma grew up in Oxford. So this accent is "High-English" for me, the same thing like the accent around Hannover is "High-German".

Why am I mixing American and British accent 😭

To put it in Spice Girl context (so maybe relatable or comparable): Mel B is from Leeds. So if you think about her thick accent and the way she talks, apparently it’s pretty “classic” Leeds and it’s like a distinctive characteristic of their personality even- much like Jack Grealish sounding like an almost stereotypically exaggerated “Brummie” lol. 🤣🤷🏻‍♀️ They’re both definitely more fun to try and impersonate that’s for sure!!!!!!!!
